Lieutenant
Governor David Dewhurst,
founder of Falcon Seaboard, is a native Texan,
proud veteran and successful conservative businessman.
Dewhurst began his business career in the mid-1970s after serving his
country as an officer in the U.S. Air Force, the Central Intelligence
Agency and the U.S. State Department. In 1981, he founded Falcon
Seaboard, which is today a diversified energy and investments company
based in Houston, Texas. An early developer in the mid-1980s in the electric
cogeneration business, David Dewhurst has earned a reputation as an
innovative successful businessman.
As Texas Land Commissioner, Dewhurst substantially reduced the budget
and work force of the General Land Office, turned back money each year
to Texas' taxpayers, certified almost $1 billion in below market
interest rate loans to veterans, and helped to restore Texas' beaches
and bays.
In the aftermath of September
11th, Dewhurst was appointed by Governor Rick Perry to chair the
Governor's Task Force on Homeland Security. He has also served as
Chairman of the State Product Development Board, the Governor's Business
Council and on the President's Commission on the Roles and Capabilities
of the United States Intelligence Community.
David Dewhurst has also been a long time community and civic leader
in his hometown of Houston and throughout the state of Texas where he
still serves on numerous civic and charitable boards. He earned
his BA degree from the University
of Arizona.
